 Academic Advisor:

The Waldron College Advising Center is staffed by an Advising Coordinator, an Assistant Advising Coordinator, and graduate students completing degree programs at Radford University. Advisors in the Advising Center are available to assist any student. The Center is located in 351 Waldron Hall.  Hours are 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The Advising Center may be contacted at 540-831-7699 or by e-mail at wchs-adv@radford.edu.

Advisors in the Center are:

  • Kimberly Waugh
  • Karenmarie Carroll

  • Emily Joyce Edwards

  • Tabitha Greear - Assistant Advising Coordinator

  • Loretta Estes  - Advising Coordinator

Advising Coordinator and Assistant Advising Coordinator:

Advising Coordinator (Loretta Estes) and Assistant Advising Coordinator (Tabitha Greear) are available to work with students and serves as secondary academic advisor for students in the Waldron College.  They hold group advising sessions; talk with students about completing a program of study in a timely manner, improving grade point averages, study skills, time management; and complete graduation checkout.

  • Advisor Assignments

The Waldron College consists of three different undergraduate majors:

  • The Communication Sciences and Disorders (COSD) Department
  • The School of Nursing (NURS)
  • The School of Social Work (SOWK)

Pre-COSD, pre-NURS and pre-SOWK students are advised by the Advising Center Staff.
Once students are admitted to COSD, Nursing, and SOWK, they are assigned a faculty advisor by the chair or director of the department.
  • Department Chairpersons | Heads | Directors: oversee the organization and operation of their specific area:
  • COSD - Dr. Claire Waldron, Chair; 111 Waldron Hall, 540-831-7636
  • NURS - Dr. Kimberly Carter, Director; 307 Waldron Hall 540-831-7700
  • SOWK - Dr. Elise Fullmer, Director; 208 Waldron Hall. 540-831-7690

Dean of the College - Dr. Raymond Linville makes decisions regarding policies, and works with students who have problems or are dissatisfied with answers from their academic department, or Advising Coordinator.

Associate Dean of the College - Dr. Ken Cox will also be available to work with students who have problems or concerns.

    Student Responsibility

Each student is ultimately responsible for meeting the requirements of his or her academic program.

Once advisor assignments are made, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the academic advisor and schedule an appointment. Each faculty advisor will post his/her office hours--students should go by the advisor’s office to check these hours and then call or return to the advisor’s office during those hours and schedule an appointment. Dropping in on an advisor is seldom a good idea.
